In this course we pursue the critical factors in regional economic growth and decline in Japan and try to forecast the future of its economy theoretically and empirically, based on them.
Regions remote from large metropolises in Japan has been faced with aggravation of their economies due to the change in industrial structure, rapid progress in aging population and smaller number of children, serious financial difficulties and so on.
In order to deal with these problems, first we need to grasp the actual conditions and the future trends of regional economy, finance and population which are interdependent on each other on the growth or decline track. Then we try to focus our attention on regional revitalization policies which can put the region back on the desirable track, such as industrial agglomeration or cluster strategy, regional platform strategy for venture business support, government?academia?industry partnership strategy and so on. |
