We will cover the following: (1) Movements towards direct payment systems in various countries: We will examine policy movements such as the EU's Direct Compensatory Payment for Less Favoured Areas and Environmentally Sensitive Areas, China's "Tui Geng Huan Ling Project (Afforestation Project For Areas Left Fallow)", and Japan's Policy for Hilly and Mountainous Areas. (2) New regional agriculture policies and example analysis: In recent years, regional agriculture policies in the EU have been progressing based on the idea of "Nachhaltigkeitsdreieck", which emphasizes the balance between economy, ecosystem and regional community. The partnership-based "Economic Promotion of Agriculture Cooperative" (LEADER) and "Green Tourism" are examples. We will hava disscusins based on concrete examples such as these.
