This lecture is designed to promote students’ ability to work as a development project leader or expert in local and international organizations. Accordingly, contents of the lecture cover theoretical and empirical aspects, Classical and neo-classical approaches to development economics, Determinants of development, Methods of measuring level of development, Harrod-Domar growth model, Lewis Two-sector growth model, Urban informal sector, Income differential and poverty, Vicious circle of underdevelopment, Rostow stages of economic growth, and Two-gap model. The topics such as “Growth & development”, “Agriculture and development” are going to discuss during lecture periods, “Industrialization and development” Trade and development”, Infrastructure & development”, “ODA, FDI and development”, “Human resource & development”, “Religion and development”, “Gender & development” and “Government, & development are put under the students’ presentation and discussion part. Survey methods, data processing & analysis, presentation and thesis writing are conducted in seminar class.
