Dana in Kimono

At first, Mariko thought that she wouldn't be able to help Dana try on a Kimono because she didn't have the proper footware and she's forgotten the details about how to put on a kimono properly (In Japan, Japanese people actually take classes to learn how to put on a kimono!) but she decided to give it a try anyway. Dana wore her street clothes (a T-shirt and jeans) under her kimono so that part wasn't exactly authentic either but, as you can see, the kimono wound up looking very nice on her. By the way, this is a kimono that Mariko wore when she was younger. Now we keep it and a few other kimonos in a wooden box that we almost never open. Dana gave Mariko a nice excuse to get her old kimonos out again.
