Reading ScheduleThis semester I would like to use Mishima Akio's Bitter Sea, a book about the struggle of Minamata Disease victims to win justice, as our text. This text will allow us to consider many aspects of life in Japan and, perhaps more importantly, the human condition in a universal sense. Moreover, it will allow us to consider how events of international importance unfolded right here in Kumamoto. I hope thatwe will be able to travel together to Minamata later in the semester to deepen our understandings.
I have placed the following texts on reserve at the main counter on the first floor of the library.
When you wish to read the book in preparation for class, go to the counter and say "マスデンせんせい の えんしゅうに の がくせいですが、テキストをかしていただけませんか." The text cannot be taken out of the library and should be returned within two hours. If others are waiting to use the text, please copy the required portion and return the text as quickly as possible. I recommend doing the reading as far in advance as possible to avoid congestion. Unfortunately, there is only one copy of each book.

The table on the right shows our reading schedule. By each date read at least to the page indicated on the right. Then, write a brief comment or question for other members of the class based on what you read. We will use these in our discussion. 右の表はそれぞれの授業までに少なくとも何ページまで読まなければならないかを示しています。読んだ箇所について簡単なコメントや質問を書いて授業のはじめに提出してください。この課題はディスカッションを充実させるためにやってもらっています。 |
