This is Kirk Masden. I am trying to help out with the problem
that Mari Haruoka has been having posting Japanese messages to
the list. We are not yet sure what has caused the problem.
I will try to post the Japanese content she sent to my private
mail address (which came through beautifully). If this does
not come though properly on the list we will know that there
is a problem with the eGroups server.
By the way, this message is about an evening course on Morocco
that will be conducted at the International Center between

Actually, I had a feeling that it might be you when we

There are two things that can be done:
(1) If posters could write even one line just saying what
the message is about (a course, a symposium, a meeting,
a request for information, etc.) it would help a lot. Please
try to do so if at all possible.
(2) If you are interested in getting a general idea of the
content of a Japanese e-mail message or homepage you
can use the following WEB page (_IF_ you have a computer
that is set up to handle Japanese):

Now, I'll give an example of how the above page can be used to
get a general idea of the content of a Japanese e-mail message.
Note that if your e-mail program or server is not set up to read
Japanese then you will not be able to read this.
First, take the first line of Mari's annoucement:

Copy it (the whole line) and paste it into the dictionary page listed
above. If you click "begin translation" you get:

If your e-mail program handles Japanese you should be able to
get the gist of many messages in this manner. In this case, we
have learned that there is some sort of lecture or course related
to Morocco that begins on January 28 and ends March 31. It meets
from 7 to 8:30 in the "afternoon" and is held at a place that
translates as the "International Exchange Meeting Hall" which
is the International Center in downtown Kumamoto.
