A high school integrated middle and high school plan in Kumamoto Prefecture was being promoted by the Kumamoto City Board of Education. Students enrolled in the high school and those who have graduated from the high school are against this plan. I also disagree with this plan. According to the Kumamoto City Board of Education, they planned to integrate junior high school and high school from the spring of 2023. The four courses of ordinary, international, art and clothing have been reorganized into two courses, global inquiry and art inquiry. As a result, the number of applicants will decrease from 360 to 210. The Kumamoto City Board of Education wants to develop a lot of global leaders and hopes that they will play an active role.
The high school student council president conducted a questionnaire survey of all students. As a result of the questionnaire survey, it was found that 980 out of 1000 students were against the plan of consistent middle and high school. The survey revealed that most students did not like the plans of the Kumamoto City Board of Education. That is why the high school student president submitted a request to the Kumamoto City Board of Education to reconsider the integrated reform of middle and high schools. Students insisted on the Kumamoto City Board of Education for several reasons against the plan. First, reducing the number of students recruited will lead to a loss of vitality in the school. The second is that club activities may decline. Declining club activities have a negative impact on their health. Third, the number of examinees at this high school will decrease. For these reasons students are against the plan. The high school student president was invited to the mayor's room to convey the passion of the students to the members of the Kumamoto city council.
The Kumamoto City Board of Education has decided to postpone the formulation of a middle and high school integrated plan scheduled for the end of June. The students were relieved to hear the news. The passion of the students may have been transmitted to them. It was widely published in local newspapers and was broadcast several times in local news. Many people in Kumamoto Prefecture became aware of Kumamoto City's plans and the activities of students who opposed them. The people in the high school reunion knew of this activity and made further appeals to the city council to help the students. The Kumamoto City Board of Education stated in the newspaper that it would like to have a polite discussion with the high school students. The student president of the high school is going to submit a request to the Kumamoto City Board of Education again in July. This event is a great opportunity for the high school students to get involved in politics. I hope their activities will be successful.
By the way, my younger brother is the student council president in this high school. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to this high school in the spring of 2023.
