Why Japanese young people are not interested in politics? This problem has been debated in Japan for many years: in 2016, the right to vote in Japan was lowered from 20 to 18, making it easier for young people to participate in elections. However, Japan's teenagers and 20-somethings have the lowest voter turnout by generation. Even from a global perspective, Japan's voter turnout is extremely low. As a result, the manifestos of each political party are filled with policies that benefit the middle-aged and elderly people, making it difficult for young people to live in Japan. In order to eliminate such problems, it is necessary to examine in detail the causes of the low voter turnout among young people which has been discussed for many years, and make improvements.
The most likely reason for the lack of interest in politics is the lack of sufficient knowledge about politics. Without knowledge of the Japanese political system, the characteristics of each political party, and their manifestos, it is impossible to know which party to should be vote, or even what discussed in the Diet. I also learn about politics at school in Japan, but it is not enough. Therefore, the result of Japanese young people’s turnout is low. In other words, a major reason for the low voter turnout is the lack of knowledge about politics. However, I don't want you to lose interest in politics because you have more politics classes at school. Therefore, it is necessary to provide opportunities about students to experience to study politics outside of the classroom and to promote the foundation of Japanese politics among the young people.
For example, we should hold events where students or children can learn about politics. At these events, set up booths where people can experience a day in the life of a politician, or experience running a political party by deciding the party's activities themselves, or invite an actual politician to introduce a brief manifesto and what they are doing. By incorporating them as part of an enjoyable event, people can enjoy learning about them. In order to give students, the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, it is important to have fun. In doing so, it is possible for students to understand complex politics without awareness of weakness in politics. By making learning fun and gaining enough knowledge about politics, and then learning more about it in the junior and senior high school classes, we can expect Japanese young people to participate in elections and have conversations about politics in their daily lives. In addition, we can expect to see more politicians representing young people than ever before, which will benefit to young people and solve about problem of manifest for middle-aged and elderly people.
In other words, if Japanese young people have enough knowledge about politics, we can be expected to more vote by young people in Japan. That's why you need to have fun learning about difficult and complex politics. That is most important thing to study about study politics.
