This class will be ALL ENGLISH (mostly!), and include all four skills: reading, writing (in the form of chat), speaking and listening. Each week we will read articles and discuss one or several current events occurring in Japan, the world, or Kumamoto. In 2007, we covered topics such as remark on the Nagasaki atom bomb by Kyuma, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, and the Baby Post in Kumamoto Jikei Hospital.
In addition to current events, there will be special activities planned for certain days. AND in the fall we will have a "guess the top ten news events for 2008" (domestic and international) contest, complete with prizes, so be thinking about what they could be!
Exchange students from any country are especially welcome! Please come and chat (both online and face to face) and exchange your opinions with our students.
