2.　DO! and CHECK!

Use the DO! and CHECK! steps in a cyclical manner to develop the best translation.

The DO! step consists of three parts:

The 4-language database is a unique feature of the process, based on a 4-language signage manual published by the Kumamoto Prefecture Office in 2005. It also implements a database of 80 disaster words suggested by Sato (x), and xxx.

(2)　複数の自動翻訳サイトで同時に検索します。 Use the multiple translation site function to translate from Japanese into the target language. Compare and choose from results of at least 4 different sites, especially chosen to give the best results for each language.

(3) CHECK! 逆翻訳で確認します。

 Back translations to Japanese from each site can be compared at a glance to help you check the accuracy of your message. 逆翻訳(例えば、英語から日本語に戻す）と比較しながら一番適切な英訳を選びます。

The back translations will not be in "perfect" Japanese. They may sound awkward. They may include subjects, objects, counting words (一つの）and pointing words (ある、この）that reflect appropriate English grammar. But the message should be correct, clear and unambiguous. If it is not, edit the original Japanese and try again.

好みによってタイトルとニュアンスを付けます。 After the message is clear, you can add set phrases as "kazari" if you wish to be more polite or specific. Remember that they are not necessary. Think about the space limitations of your sign and how long readers will have to read it.

To create a successful translation, a trial-and-error method is best, so the DO! and CHECK! steps are cyclical.

The 2-part DO! step is:

Use the special multiple MT site window to translate from Japanese into your language. For each language, the best MT sites are different. Therefore each language should be translated separately. You can compare and choose from results from at least 4 different sites. You can also compare the back translations from each site. These will help you check the accuracy of your message.

CHECK!

You should check the accuracy of your translation using the back translation function.

The back translation should not be in "perfect" Japanese. It may sound awkward. It may include subjects, objects, counting words (一つの）and pointing words (ある、この）that reflect appropriate English grammar. But the message should be clear and unambiguous. If it is not, change the original Japanese or the translated target language until the message is clear.

2.　DO! and CHECK!　日本語原文を外国語に変更

(1)　4か国データーベースで例文を探します。

• 一般な看板表現、事例などが2000件以上ありますので、適切な翻訳が見つかるかもしれません。
• 見つからない場合、事例集に追加する提案をしてください

(2)　翻訳します。

• 複数の自動翻訳サイトで同時に検索する

(3) 逆翻訳します。

• 逆翻訳(例えば、英語から日本語に戻す）と比較しながら一番適切な英訳を選びます。

(4)　「飾り」（タイトルとニュアンス）を追加します。 好みによってタイトルとニュアンスを付けます。
