1. DECIDING A TOPIC

a. INTERNET RESEARCH

  (1) Use the net to find three useful home pages about your topic.
  (2) Download PDF files to your dropbox or order them from the library.

b. WRITE AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

 (1) write your sources in your template bibliography 
 (2) Quote parts of each source with page numbers

c. PLAN YOUR ATTACK!

 (1) How will you approach your topic? Comparison? Questionnare? Corpus study? Pre-post test?

d. NARROW AND REFINE YOUR TOPIC

 (1) Write an outline using powerpoint
 (2) Present your outline
 (3) Copy your outline to your annotated bibliography

2. WRITING AN INTRODUCTION

a. QUOTING IN TEXT

 Quote a shorter passage directly in the text, add (LAST NAME, year p. X) after it. 
 Quote a longer passage (over 4 lines) of this paper by setting it off and indenting it. 

b. Do NOT use "I"!! how not to use "I"

c. Answer the following questions

 (1) What is your topic? 
 (2) What previous research has there been on the topic? 
 (3) What is your own original question about the previous research? 

3. WRITE THE BODY

 (1) Perform the research!!

4. WRITE THE CONCLUSION

 (1) How did you answer your research questions?
 (2) What do your results mean to the world? (education, etc.)
 (3) What are the limitations (what could have been done better?)
 (4) What research can be done next?

5. WRITE THE ABSTRACT

 (1) What was your topic?
 (2) what was your approach?
 (3) What were your results?
 (4) What doe they mean to the world?
