A research center of global standing, then eventually teaching economic development
While an undergraduate at KGU, I enrolled in Professor Maung Maung Lwin’s course on Theory of Economic Development, then worked again with him in his intensive seminar, and now he is my advisor. I entered grad school for the purpose of researching what exactly a country needs for its economy to grow and develop. I’m currently doing research on the socio-economic conditions of farming villages in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I spent 2010 establishing the Angkor University Research Center for Economic Development (AURCED) as the vice-president, and was involved in the 1st through 4th international conferences held there between 2010 and 2014. My goals for the future are to collect and publish the presentations of future conferences at AURCED and to elevate AURCED to the level of an internationally-renowned research institute. After that, I’d eventually like to teach economic development at a university.
