Enhancing my abilities so I can become a teacher and pass the same skills on to my students
I first came to Kumamoto as an exchange student to learn Japanese. After a slight adjustment to my life goals, I decided to join Kumamoto Gakuen University’s Department of International Economics to study economics. I was especially interested in exchange rates and how they are influenced by economics. During my undergrad studies, I focused mainly on macroeconomics under Professor Sasayama, but after I graduated, I realized my knowledge of economics was still lacking. That’s why I decided to head to graduate school, where, in addition to macroeconomics, I can study a wide range of topics, from microeconomics, to public finance and monetary policy.
Being from China, I’m currently focusing my research on the exchange rate of the Chinese Renminbi and trade economics. My research looks into how the daily fluctuations of exchange rates affect trade, people’s lives, and national economic development. What I’ve felt I learned at graduate school isn’t merely limited to economics; by expanding my knowledge, I’ve gotten more confident in myself and have acquired a wider outlook on my life and my future. My dream is now to become a teacher. I want to go on to teach language and economics in much the same way as I’ve learned them myself.
